Le Fort du Parmont
Make the most of your stay at the Best Western Le Chapitre hotel to visit a unique historic site: Fort du Parmont!
Built on the Parmont massif, high above the town of Remiremont, the Fort du Parmont is a landmark in local history. It was built between 1874 and 1876 as part of the defensive network of Haute-Moselle. In particular, it prevented the enemy from crossing the Moselle valley and the various access roads.
After decades of neglect, the almost 3-hectare fort has been brought back to life by a team of volunteers working to restore it to its former glory. Today, you can visit the many rooms that make up the fort, restored to their original condition:
Artillery rooms
Shops
Bakery
Kitchens
bedrooms, etc.
The exterior of Fort du Parmont is also well worth a visit, with its superb views over Remiremont and the Moselotte and Moselle valleys. As a bonus, you'll be surrounded by goats in semi-liberty!
The Fort du Parmont is open from 3 April to 11 November:
From April to 1st September: guided tour on Sundays at 2.30pm and 4pm
From 2 September to 30 November: guided tour on Sundays at 3pm
